1. Know adjustment (wind, pole, step, grip) to increase safety.
2. Drill like crazy (pole runs, take-off, swing).
3. Use imagination when training... make-up own drills, drill at home, mix up drills, drill circuits.

Additional helpful comments for beginning vaulters?

Be consistent with all you do. Try to absorb as much info. that you can. Have support (coaches, trainers, parents, brothers, sisters, etc.).
